I saw this one at the Dr Oz Show. He was explaining how to use this back stretcher and selected this as the best device in the market.

It is so simple to use. You start off on the lowest level and lay on it for a few minutes each day, allowing the device to correct your spine’s curvature. As your back improves, you can slowly increase the steepness of the device to work your spine back into it’s natural shape. For slipped discs and pinched nerves, this traction device may help relieve a lot of pressure.

The adjust-ability means that everyone in the house can use it, while its durability means it will last as long as you need it too. Plus, it is pretty darn affordable.

Looking up side down with an inversion table

This may not be the first device you would think off to help stretch your back muscles or lumbar discs. How does it work?

Fasten your legs first and turn yourself upside down with the handle of this inversion table. When you hang upside down your vertebrate of the spine will be unloaded. This allows the spine to reform to it’s natural state.

People with herniated or slipped discs will find this device very helpful.

There are claims from users who said they have avoided back surgery by using the inversion table. There also people who mentioned that they have reduced the usage of pain medication after using the inversion table on a frequent basis

Lumbar Traction Device

lumbar spine traction machineIf you have numbness in your legs caused by pinched nerve or compressed disc around your lower back then lumber traction device might help.

Lumbar traction device are used to decompress the lumbar discs. It allows the spine to lay in it’s correct shape. It basically gives the room to the discs they need to slip back into their correct spots.

Typically, most of my friends have chosen the inversion table as the back-stretching machine of choice. A few minutes each day does wonders at reversing the effects of gravity and allowing the spine to heal. This device seems especially effective for those dealing with slipped and herniated discs.

While it may seem intimidating to go upside down, most of the inversion tables will let you invert at different angles so you can work up to your comfort zone. While upside down, the pressure is relieved and circulation is increased, forcing fluid between the vertebrae and helping to relieve the pain even after you stand back up.

Finally, the lumbar traction back stretchers seem to offer a great deal of comfort for those who only have low back pain. These devices enable you to target the pain directly. Acting a lot like the spinal decompression machines at the doctor’s office, lumbar traction helps to alleviate pressure on the spine, even when muscles are sore and tense — something that inversion tables sometimes have a hard time with.

The Best 3 Spinal Back Stretching Devices To Consider Purchasing

With so many devices on the market, it is plum confusing to try to decide which one you should go with.

I will quite unabashedly promote that every house should have an inversion table. Whether you need cervical or lumbar traction on top of that is up to you and your doctor.

Best Inversion Table

For this one I’m going with what they call an “inversion chair”. These are much sturdier, and can handle up to 300 pounds.

Plus, they are way less intimidating than a standard inversion table since you start in a seated position and then push your feet back to move back into the reclined/inverted position.

Finally, they let the legs bend which is more natural and takes pressure off the lower spine.

But, they do cost a little more.

  1. Excellent post.
I’ve not tried the inversion machines yet.
My favorite back stretchers are the following

    1. The Lumbar Extender Back Stretcher
    2. The Sae Arc Wooden Back Stretcher
    3. The Stretch Mate Orthopedic Back Stretcher

I’ve been alternating between these back stretching devices for about 13 months.
I feel much better now, I’ve eliminated all my sciatic back pain and I’ve also increased my height.

I’m now looking to take things to the next level with an inversion machine. Is there one you could recommend as I am looking to increase the stretch to my back and spine.

Look forward to hearing from you.
